Happy New Year Everyone!  Hope you were able to spend it like us, in a duck blind. It was a perfect way to start 2024.  This was our first time at Malouf Lake.  It was a really nice place.  The blind is set up well with pretty good cover.  It was pretty windy but the blind cover was able to block some of the wind.  We set the decoy spread up based on the wind with a fish hook shape spread facing the wind.  Most all of the ducks came from the left (i.e. south).  There wasn’t much action right at shooting light, but they were pretty steady there after.  The first ducks we say were two wigeon but they circled and landed at the north end of the pond. Our first bird was a drake wigeon, followed by a canvas back, 3 ring necks, 2 bluebills, and one mroe wigeon.  It was a fantastic way to start 2024.  We wish you a happy and healthy 2024!
