Ducks showed up at the lake even before 6AM.  A dozen birds were taken in the first half hour after legal shooting time.  Four were harvested in the second half hour.  The final 2 ducks were taken in the second hour.  The bag consisted of ring-necked ducks, spoonbills, gadwalls, and bluebills.

Note that the gate to the farm road had a keyed lock on it, so we entered through the traditional southeast gate with the combination lock.  The water was high (6 inches deep in the metal blind).  Instead of walking in, we used the club’s jon boat to ferry back and forth across the lake.  With the notable drop-offs in front of the blinds, all of our decoys with 40-inch lines had to be within 10 yards of the shore to keep them anchored.

It was a good morning at the Ferris property and we look forward to getting out there again.
