The weather has finally turned cold. It was 34 degrees first thing in the morning. We were a little late setting up because we were slow moving. We missed the first birds that came through. There were two Gaddys followed by three green wing teals that came straight into our decoys. Guns weren’t loaded and we were ready so we missed our opportunity. Then we had a group of four ring necks that came through and we got 3. Then a little bit later 2 more came through and we dropped both. We lost one in the reeds and we could never find it. The reeds are thick around the blind. Every once in a while we would see a bird. Towards the end of the hunt four canvas backs came through, but we didn’t get any. Highlight of the day, we brought 6 goose floaters, brand new, fully flocked. There were two geese that flew over but the kept going. We only saw about 20 to 30 birds. Probably because it was so windy. The blind was sitting directly in the wind which was blowing about 20 to 25mph at times, directly in our face. The blind is on the east side and the west side is sheltered more from the wind. We only hunted from the blind because we weren’t sure if we could hunt from the shore on the west side, which has a nice little cove protected by the trees and reeds, allowing for what looks like a pretty good spot out of the wind.
