Trolling motor shaft length recommendation

I wanted to get others opinions on trolling motor shaft length for mounting an Endura Max to the bow of the club boats. I am considering 36" or 42" lengths. Thanks in advance.

A difficult question since club boats are sometimes jon boat affairs and sometimes modified aluminum v hulls, IF you're mounting the motor on the bow.

I would suggest an aft mount. Using that, 30" should be plenty on most club boats.

I have a 55# Endura Max with a 36" shaft that I use on club boats that works great.  I almost always use it stern mounted.  I have used a 42" before and found it somewhat ungainly for use on the stern.

I use a 36" transom mount 55 lb thrust motor on the club boats and it works very well, particularly in the "skinny water" in some of the lakes. I find it very easy to lift it up to prevent churning up mud without causing cavitation. It some of our locations, there are pontoon boats which allow a bow mount with the transom clamps. I just flip the head and then mount it on the front.

Thanks John and David. I ended up purchasing what you both recommended and it works great!
