Bryan, Sorry to hear about your loss of tackle. I also fish a fair amount out of my Pelican 10E. I started putting Cush-It slip on rod butts on all my rods that I might take on my pelican or one of my kayaks. I believe they add better balance for things like walking the dog etc. They allow a cushion when your fighting big fish. but most importantly they float the rod and reel if accidentally knocked overboard. They slip on and off very easily.

lol. If my pelican 10E is good for one thing...it is good for having me bump Rods overboard. This is my 2nd lost Rod...
For anyone who wants to try and locate it, I think I know where. Certainly this would result in Lunch or Dinner for the finder :)
Pretty sure it happened just to the Right of the Boat ramp.. perhaps 20 to 40 yards away. Up close to shore in reeds. Wind took me there and I got stuck on underwater structure (be careful). in my attempt to get free of it, I had to move around a lot, so no doubt I knocked the Rod overboard.
It is an American Rodsmith david fritts cranking rod, with a older Shimano Curado (green) reel.
