Having problems getting your picture to load oriented correctly? Mine would look fine on the Explorer, but when I loaded them they would fall on their side.

After 6 or 7 frustrating attempts, I was finally able to get my pictures posted upright as I wanted every time, instead of rotated on their side. 

How? Essentially, follow Seth Knochel instructions on the Oct 2014 post "How to upload pictures", but at Step 3, when you browse to your file, instead of clicking the file, put your mouse on it, right-click, choose Open with--> Photo Gallery.  This will open the file for edit.  From here right-click the image to rotate left, or right, or do nothing if it is oriented correctly.  Close the file (X out) then continue upload as per Step 4.  Simply opening the file from here will put a stamp on the file with the correct orientation.

I have correctly oriented photos, but when uploaded they get rotated 90 degrees. I tried what you mentioned but they open correctly on my screen. Not sure why they are getting rotated. I tried the rotate button and that didn't do anything. Looks like it only rotates images that are taller than they are wide.

Hi Jeff,  That picture thing is frustrating!

Here is more direct way I've discovered since the earlier post:

Open the Paint software/app in MS Office.  Navigate to your picture thru File->Open-> (your picture).  Your pic should now be on the screen.  Click the Rotate icon left or right to orient your picture. (Even if it is already upright I still rotate left then right just to make sure.)  You can also resize, crop, etc, here if you need to.  Now click Save when you are happy with the image.

Then edit, delete the old sideways pic off the PWF site and re-post the new image you saved in Paint.  Should look just as you saved it.

I have a little info on why this has to be done. Taking pictures with a phone will result in a EXIF 0112 Orientation tag with the rotation based on the phone. It'll look like the proper orientation, but have a tag of 90 CCW or 90 CW. Opening in Paint, and saving, will change the EXIF 0112 tag to Normal. If the picture is rotated in Paint then it does need to be rotated. Else, open in Paint, save, and it will correct the EXIF data.

I ended up digging into this as my last pictures I posted all looked proper in Windows but showed rotated when uploaded.
