Decatur Beaver Lake

Steve/Seth,

Has Beaver Lake caught enough runoff to re-open yet?

Thanks,

Steve R.

Got on here today to ask the same thing.  I notice the lake in Bowie is reported as 8 or so feet low in the reports from late 2014 to.  I wonder if the members could get updates as they come in about Decatur, Bowie and the 2 properties near Seven Points?

Thanks,

Kirk

Decatur - Beaver Lake is now 100% full and is open again for fishing, and Bowie - Backside of the Moon is 9 feet low, and about 15 acres in size, but still fishable. The fish should be biting at Beaver Lake, since the lake was rested while it was closed due to the low water. This spring would be a good time to head out to Decatur!

Seth: Can I take a 14' boat and launch it from a trailer backed up to the edge of the lake?  It's not clear if that's allowed at Beaver Lake.

Hey Seth, I have a reservation at Beaver this Friday AM 3/27.  How long ago were you at this site?  Was the water like chocolate milk from all the runoff or is it fairly clear?

Thanks,

Paul

Steve, You can launch a boat off a trailer at this lake, but I would wait for a week with no rain, or hand launch. I believe the only lakes in the club that you cannot back a trailer in the lake are San Saba, Marshall and Cleburne. PWF owns a 16 foot aluminum electro shock boat with a 50 HP motor and I can successfully launch this boat in 100% of our lakes.

Paul, All lakes are muddy right now. Some more than others. But I would expect water clarity to be less than 18 inches. We have not been to the site in 3 months, so we have not seen it since it filled up 4 days ago.
