LOOKING to take my 7 year old grandson fishing for the first time. Any ideas  on  some kid freindly sites.....+

Take him to Six O ranch.  A bobber, size 8 hooks and some fresh white bread. Make pea size bread balls and he will catch some nice coppernose blue gills.  To get them in a feeding frenzy chum some bread balls first.  After he gets tired of catch blue gills get in the pontoon boat and have either throw a  wacky worm or if he is good at casting a johnson beetle spin.  Good chance to catch some more gills plus a bass.  Covered dock to get out of heat.  Perfect father and son day.

Great suggestion and technique. Martins Mill Lake side, Bryan Post Oak and Van Alystene Jer Mar, Ben Wheeler Twin Lakes are good lakes to Blue Gill fish as well.

I was at Six O yesterday and the dock area is loaded with coppernose blue gills on the beds plus plenty more just swimming around looking for a bread ball. I would go down to a size 10 hook since the water is so clear.  Water is clear with a slight green tint clarity to at least 10 feet.  Plenty of shade on dock and a good breeze.  Saw some nice bass at the dock.  We caught one on a gold spinner and one on a red Shad senko.  Both were nice fish but saw some bigger ones cruising in and out of the weeds around the dock. When leaving saw a big barn owl and a skunk on the road out.  

Martins mill.  Kids can catch bluegill non stop- used powerbait crappie bites.  Great place to stay.  I caught two 5lb bass too, and several hard fighting 2-3lb range.  

Is the dock available to fish from as I knew it was previously unavailable?  You are right the bluegill are healthy and huge.  The first time that I saw the feeder go off the water looked like it was boiling with piranha. 

I'd recommend Tushka, but it'll probably be muddy going in.

The dock at Martins Mill was fishable as of mid August.  Real nice dock, nice property overall.
