I can't answer the battery charging question, although from my understanding modern chargers do a lot to the battery.
What I can offer is what I use to transport batteries from car to dock. This works at Six-O for me, two trips this week.

I load it with two batteries, my trolling motor, tackle bags, anchor, and anything else that will fit. It manages the gap in the dock at Six-O pretty well.
Also see my post about trolling motor mounts, that rubber piece works great at Six-O, turn on a dime(relatively) on the pontoon without the motor jumping off.

i think this has been discussed before on this forum. After a day of fishing what is the best way to charge the deep cycle trolling motor battery. After getting home I put the battery back on the charger and bring it back to 100% before storing. I started to read about equalizing and not sure I understood what this process is all about. I have one battery that is 6 years old and the other is 1 year old. Next question do they make a battery cart to transport from my truck to boat dock?
