Just joining here :) i won the facebook promotion and i am really excited about this.

I live in houston and i saw a couple of good options close by. I wonder if someone can provide any input,  on where i can launch my boat, i have an aluminum ranger rt188... dont kno if i will be able to use it on some lakes.. i saw some allow trailers some not... i have a 4x4 colorado to launch it...

From the pictures I saw on-line, that's going to be a little large for Giddings or Huntsville, and I haven't fished Post Oak or Rock Chimney.  I've only been to Tree Farm once, and didn't do that well.  Reports from there are so-so.

One of the lakes to the northeast, such as Bennett or Boatwright might be able to handle it.  Melody doesn't have a ramp that I know of.

Welcome to the club Jorge. I have been to Post Oak once a couple of weeks ago, you could launch your boat there but getting to the ramp would be the challenge especially after a big rain. The ramp is short and a little steeper than most so you will need the 4 x 4 for pulling out.(might want to use the boat on site the first time to get a feel for the set up).  Jim is correct about Giddings and Huntsville, there would be some challenges. I would suggest bank fishing any of the PWF tanks first so you can determine if you want to try to pull your boat out there.  (they are very easy to bank fish and i have done well doing so) I have a 20 ft fiberglass boat so i do have some experience launching boats. My two cents.

Welcome to the club.  I fished Tree Farm a few years back on July 4, so not prime time.  But I think it is over-fished by the employees.  You can find my fishing report in the archives.  If you want a lot of action, Giddings, Huntsville, and Boatwright are all good options.

Welcome. Live near Fort Hood and agree that Thompson, Giddings would not be suitable for launching your boat. Have fished rock chimney twice and no way you could launch there. Good luck

Welcome Jorge; i'm not in the Houston area, so can't comment on the south texas area, but i do also have a ranger rt188.  with my 4x4 f-150, i've been able to launch and retrieve from off the bank at several of the properties in the northeast texas area.

People really do win! Jorge was the winner of our like and share Facebook Contest last month.

You can launch an 18 foot aluminum boat in most any lake in the club, if you do one thing. Get Rollers for your trailer. We use a 16 foot 101 inch wide aluminum boat with 100 gallon live well (for fish capture), large Honda Generator and a 40HP mercury (this is a heavy boat) and I can get the boat in 100% of all club lakes. Rollers make a huge difference. I did not install myself, but ordered the trailer with them. If your not comfortable changing the bunks out for rollers, it can be done at most any boat dealer. It makes all the difference in the world. When launching with rollers, back the boat in the water first and do not unlatch. Once the boat is in the water, it will roll back automatically. Let it. once it floats, you can unlatch.

In the meantime, Bryan is your best bet, You should be able to launch there easily. Ellington also has an easy to use boat ramp.

If your willing drive a bit further. You can launch at Laneville, Longbranch, Henderson and Grapeland. All are within 3 hours of Houston.
