11 year old Friendly Bass Lake/DFW

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn’t find anything – I was looking for bass lake rec’s in the DFW area (within an hour and a half or so) that are fishable for my 11 year old and have a boat.  She’s capable/learning but looking for a place she could catch a quantity of fish (not necessarily giants) and not have to fight timber or too heavy of grass.

Any lakes y’all have had success at with your children?

I'd recommend Trinity Lakes in Covington and specifically Comanche Lake on that property.  Place has generally thrown up great catch rates and is easy easy to fish.  Recently fished there with  fly rods and we landed around 30 on Comanche in an afternoon.  Pretty place with horses running around so should be great for your daughter.  Good luck

I second what Kevin said. Trinity Lakes in Covington is an excellent place to take someone wanting to learn how to fish. I took my kids and we bank fished Commanche even though it had a boat. All we needed was a Spinnerbait in either white or bluegill pattern, with a white paddle tail swimbait as the trailer. We caught 35 bass that day. Which pales in comparison to other reports, but when you are having to clean your kids lures and take the fish off the hook for them…..pause for taking pictures…...it eats up time, but it’s worth it. Definitely a numbers place. I also recommend bank fishing the dam at Arrowhead. Bigger fish there and with the right sunglasses you can see them. Lots of fun.

I’d also recommend Deer Trail. Short drive from DFW, boats available, concrete boat ramp, lots of energetic bass and a few hogs (up to 8 pounds!). Its prob my favorite place.

No. I have no idea where that came from. I removed it. Weird.
